Challenge for New Materials

RIKAZAI aggressively pursues application of new functional materials besides ferrous and non-ferrous metals to respond to customers’ various needs of materials and manufacturing samples under various conditions (heat-treatment, pickling, etc). We are confident that RIKAZAI will deliver ‘best of breed’ solutions to customers.

  • Application of new functional materials

Super and micron fine metals enable products smaller and lighter, which will expand application of functional materials.

  • Shape memory alloy (SMA) and hyperelastic material

Fine SMA made of nickel and titanium metals are utilized for biomaterials like stent and for heat engine application.

  • Solar cell

Solar cell panel with easily formable titanium foil electrodes can make panels thinner, comparing with use of glass electrodes, and research is under way by manufacturers.

  • Fuel cell and Secondary Battery

Palladium alloy foils, which show superior hydrogen permeability , are employed in research and development of fuel cell electrodes and high purity hydrogen refining equipment. For secondary battery application like lithium ion battery, foils of graphite materials (such as graphene and carbon nanotube (CNT)) and nano porous materials of nickel family are considered to be employed for their electrodes.

  • Metal Hydride

Fine metal hydride is used for electrode materials of fuel cell and nickel-hydrogen battery and contributes to smaller and lighter packaging.

  • Superconductivity materials

Superconductive Nb-Ti foil application to flexible cables is under research and development.

  • High Purity Metal ('Super Metal')

High purity metals of aluminum, iron, copper and titanium are expected to be used for various applications, with their newly found characteristics.

Please feel free to ask precision metal processing of new sample materials. We could offer them at small lot size (even single foil).
